Fatherhood Featured on Growing Rural Podcast

The importance of fatherhood was the topic on one of the latest episodes of Growing Rural Podcast. Joining Host Dr. Megan Weis of USC's Arnold School of Public Health were Marc Himes, program manager for the Center, and Derrick Deese, executive director of Man 2 Man Fatherhood Initiative in Florence, SC – one of our six fatherhood organizations across the state. Much of the discussion focused on the positive economic impact fathers make in communities where they are present and engaged with their children. The podcast also featured discussion on education and it’s impact on earnings and some of the struggles fathers face in maintaining a living wage without sacrificing their personal heath, important relationships, while ensuring the well-being of their children and families.
