Grand opening of the 'Man Cave' in Hartsville
Ricky Barr from SC Center for Fathers and Families tries out the pool table.
On July 1, we cut the ribbon on the long-awaited "Man Cave" at the St. Joseph Head Start Center in Hartsville.
The idea is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where young fathers, ages 15 to 24, can get together to learn from each other and counselors about how to live up to their responsibilities to their children.
Aside from such obvious attractions as a pool table and flat-screen TV, the Man Cave offers all the services associated with our fatherhood programs, such as group counseling, parenting advice, job training and education counseling.
We know this is a place young fathers will like, as several of them helped us design and fix up the place.
The Man Cave is a joint effort of Man 2 Man, the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families, Parents Are First, Darlington County First Steps, Head Start of Darlington County, Children's Trust of South Carolina, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Darlington County Community Action Partnership, and the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
