Meet Olander Bowe, a Father to Father success story

Meet Olander Bowe.

Olander voluntarily enrolled in the program in the spring of 2014. He was extremely distressed because his daughter was in foster care, having been removed from the care of her mother.

Authorities were threatening to terminate Olander's parental rights and  move his daughter into a group home.

Mr. Bowe was extremely despondent because of the situation with his daughter.  Fortunately, he had the resolve to fight for her.

The program provided him with the support and encouragement he needed to pursue getting his daughter out of foster care rather than just giving up. He completed the Parenting Component while in the program, and when DSS told him he would need parenting classes in order to get custody, he immediately pulled out his Parenting Certificate and that allowed him to get custody.

He stopped by Father to Father last week to report that in September, he was granted full custody of his beautiful 9-year-old daughter, Lanique. In fact, the mother has now been ordered to pay him child support!

The love and affection between father and daughter was so obvious. Congratulations to Olander. Stories like this keep us going every day!
