Johnny Ford to head up Georgetown office

We have someone new heading up our Georgetown office, and it's made news on the South Strand:

When most people get a new job, it's the start of a new adventure, but for Johnny Ford -- who was recently named the Georgetown site director of A Father's Place -- it was a bit of a homecoming.

"I ran a fatherhood program 10 years ago when it was a separate 501(c)3 in Georgetown, and now I'm returning to the start of my nonprofit career," Ford said.

The Pawleys Island native spent the 10 years in between working for groups like AMIkids, Teach My People, AmeriCorps VISTA, and growing his church as the pastor at House of God Church in Pawleys.

"The common point has been working with the family unit. Between what I do at church and with A Father's Place, it's an ideal fit," he said.

A Father's Place helps men rebuild connections with their children. The nonprofit's six-month fatherhood program teaches dads about healthy relationships, economic stability, parenting and men's health. Group sessions and job training "boot camp" are also a part of the experience...

Welcome back, Johnny!
