Our Mission & History

The South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families, a statewide nonprofit organization, was founded in 2002 by the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina. The Center is a faith-based organization whose mission is to develop and support a statewide infrastructure to strengthen relationships between fathers and families throughout South Carolina.

The Center is an outgrowth of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina's Fatherhood Initiative, "Reducing Poverty through Father Engagement," which was launched in 1997 and is a result of a public-private partnership between the foundation and the South Carolina Department of Social Services. The Center is a ministry of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, based in Richfield, Ohio.
